Why was the meeting brought to a conclusion and everyone told to leave when they had no actually adjourned? Were they trying to hide something???

Please post the 6/7 broadcast. I don't get Comcast in my neighborhood and I'm looking forward to this show!

People were told to leave the room because the council was entering in to Executive Session. Just because they enter into Executive Session does not mean the meeting is over, infact they need to come back from session to actually take action. It was after that the mayor informed them of the consequence of the earlier actions. I for one applaud the mayor for doing this as he could have kept shut and allowed the consequence to happen.

I watched the show on Thursday and have one comment to a caller: Not all speakers in support of the parade ordinance referenced sponataneous celebrations and some even mentioned the assembly portion. Just because you want everyone to believe that nobody understands the ordinance except you, that is not the truth.

That's an absolute LIE. Every one of the supporters of the ordinance in May and in June (for exception of Boughton's cronie at the end of the public speaking) spoke about the World Cup games and how the ordinance would stop immigrants from celebrating in the streets.

Also, I never heard of an executive session where the Mayor leaves the room.

Lastly, the whole thing from Boughton was a joke. Anyone who knows anything about Robert's Rules, KNOW that even if Rotello's motion was incorrect (which I don't believe as Corporation Council is really stretching it in their INTERPRETATION OF THE CHARTER), the ad-hoc could still visit the ordinance and offer their recommendations as the chair of the ad-hoc has could simply say "we know why we're really here so lets look at the ordinance" since the ordinance is the origin in which Boughton's letter who created in the first place.

The whole episode behind the ordinance just about says everything that wrong with the Boughton administration...using the immigration issue for political purposes, misleading the public, strong-arming the legislative and judicial branch (corporation council) to do things HIS way, thumbing his nose to the opposition, being COMPLETELY out-of-touch with the real concerns of the people of Danbury.

Corporation Council, Riley, and Stanley should 1.) Resign or 2.) Promise not to run for re-election.

BTW: I hope Riley's son likes his new job for the city...and can we look at how many city roads are being paved by Stanley husband's paving company...
