The caller who commented before news break, who said all immigrants are here for freebies, showed the real view of many members of the so called Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement group.

Ivon is nothing more than a disgrace and a laughing stock.
He didn't have the intelligence of a billy goat and allowed Elise to lie right in front of his face.

Last night, Ivon proved what was already known to everyone...that he's has no idea what the hell he's talking about.
Watching that moron let Elise say lie after lie without calling her out just shows you that he doesn't know what he's doing and cares more about how many people are watching his show than the quality of his show.

Truly Ivon, Immigration is a very complicated topic. With a lot of history, many nuances, and alot of ground to cover. Elise's history of a "shock and awe" type campaign, where she bombards people with misinformation, lies, and propaganda, and calls all her goons to back her up, should have made you take more time in preparation. Researching, asking well thought out questions, and having challenging responses. Or at least, in having a worthy opponant there to debate her. In this case, you may have thought you had a good idea, but it was very ill conceived. She walked all over you, and you let her. Now, the only way to correct this, would be to have someone from the other side come on and disassemble her statements, and bring some opposing view to the matter.

Why weren't you prepared to deal with Marciano's set-up phone calls?
Why didn't you properly challenge her on when she said that she wanted to DEPORT EVERYONE?

Why didn't you call her on Marciano when on one hand she said that American's infrastructure can't handle the immigrants EVEN on the other hand state that immigrants come to Danbury because there is housing?

Lynn is NOT a member of stop the raids, though she has attended several PUBLIC events sponsored by Stop the Raids. The difference between that, and Pauline Basso's open participation, and advocacy for CTIC is IMMENSE, and Obvious. Secondly, while Mayor Boughton may not be a member of CTIC, he is in constant contact with them, and they've stated themselves that they meet with him regularly. Why not call her on that? As for her illustration of "Immigrants breaking into your house" it is a nonsensical illustration. If someone came to my door, or even came through my door, and said "Look, I'm desperate, I really need some food!" and were NOT a criminal, I would either a) help them, or b)refer them to someone who could help them. Now, if they were insane...or dangerous that is another story. Desperation implies neither of those conditions. They're not threaghtening us, with weapons, or harm. They're asking us for help. BIG difference. And threaghtening churches who "aid" immigrants is rediculous. A church leader, or church, has a spiritual responsibility to help a person in need, yes, EVEN a criminal. That is why there are prison ministries. That is why "Sanctuary" always existed. Because their obligation is to minister to those in need, spiritually. And spiritually, right now, and immigrant needs to feel like they are being treated like a human being...NOT like a moving target. As some of Elise's best pals consider them.
I'm sorry Ivon, but that still doesn't exempt you from fault here. That was April, this is now. What you may have wanted to do, is rerun a segment of that show, or, gather your facts from that show, and use them to counterpoint Elise. But, you didn't. Phil Berns is an attorney. Elise, is the president of a HATE GROUP. Her cronies include McGowan, and Big T, who advocate violence against immigrants, and lump all latino's in with this hatred. Just not a wise move.
You posting an update with Philip Berns makes it all the more outrageous that you didn't gather simple facts to dispute the overwhelming amount of lies Elise spewed in your face.
If you're going to talk about a topic, at least do your research. What you did in giving Marciano an outlet for a full hour without a real counterpoint is a disgrace.

Many are upset with the lies and hate spread by the last guest. It is clear that last show did not have a well balanced forum. Someone like Atty Berns or Atty Michael Boyle would have challenged and discredited this person and unveiled the guest’s agenda of hate. At the same time, however, let's let crucify Ivon “completely” here. He is the host of the show and not an immigration expert. If guests knew that the host had a reputation of solely discrediting opposing views, many would not show up. If the viewers don't like what's being said by certain guests, they're able to call in live and challenge them.
The problem is, Apollo, that Elise, as much as I would like to say she is, is not a complete fool when it comes to strategy. She had all of her goons call in that night, and flood the air waves. I am positive that most of the callers that night were not regular viewers of the show, and I recognized several of the voices as those who call in to Big T's show all the time. They flooded the phone lines, so that nobody with an opposing view could get through, which should have been anticipated. It was planned that way by Elise. And because of that, there SHOULD have been a strong speaker who is pro immigration on the panel, to ease the damage that her callers could attempt to inflict.

In all fairness, he gave Berns, an immigration attorney, to dispel the garbage from Marciano.
Leaving aside all considerations of humanity and compassion, Elise's "misery strategy" for dealing with the problem of millions of out-of-status immigrants is simply stupid. She says the most important law to enforce is against employers who hire people without proper papers. Then they won't have jobs, won't be able to keep their housing and can't feed their families. This, she says, will cause immigrants to "trickle back" to their home countries. In how many centuries? You deal with what some people call a "flood" by asking it to "trickle back?" That's just DUMB.
And INHUMANE. You systematically create a group of homeless, starving people and call that a solution? You really are too much.
I agree that Ivon wasn't as well prepared for this show as for others and he seemed anxious. But Marty was very well-prepared and did an excellent job of broadening the conversation from Elise's two-point rant.

On the New Haven ID cards: That was approved by the Board of Alderman by a vote of 25-1. Not exactly forced through by DeStefano as Elise claims.
And on New Haven's December 2006 police policy of not questioning people about their immigration status, except in cases of a CRIMINAL investigation, the chief of police will tell anyone who asks that it has made the city safer and it has made the police officers safer. Public safety and officer safety. Sounds good to me.

Personally, I've had it with Marciano and her lies. Something needs to be done to stop her.
People should organize and go to her meetings at the American Legion and take her and her bigots on.

I suspect all the anti-immigrant calls were orchestrated by the hate group. Only one caller challenged her in the beginning of part 2 (after the caller who had a problem with an immigrant neighbor who drove a nicer car. Isn't it pathetic?). When Marciano was challenged to reject a caller from part 1--who said that "all" immigrants are here for freebies, not to assimilate and become citizens--and the spreading of hate, she avoided it and rambled onto talking points. Marciano and her close friends at Big T’s variety pack share the same hate philosophy. As most of you have seen reported at HatCity Blog, McGowan is VP of her organization. Big T’s shows have made a number of racist statements against gays, African Americans, and suggested that immigrants be shot.
